Window Mistreatments

Okay, here is my first mistreatment. This was originally a shower curtain. Didn't want to spend the money on TWO, so I just bought ONE for $30, my friend (a sewer!) cut it down the middle, sewed blackouts on it and viola!

Bought the valance at Habitat for Humanity a while back for $10. It was MINT GREEN at the time. See what a little can (or 2) of chocolate brown fabric paint ($12) will do?

Got introduced to Nesting Place a while back (again, thanks to s-in-law, Shannon ), went to Hobby Lobby, got a yard of black fabric and some ball fringe thingies (all on sale - total of $8) and headed home. I got the ol' hot glue gun out, the iron and went to town.

Don't Be Square!

Here is something I made while the kids were taking their nap the other day.

What to Buy:
Six 12X12 styrofoam squares from Joann's/Hobby Lobby ($3each)
Black paint (free from garage or $2/can)
Mod Podge (free from other projects or $3 from HL or Joann's)
Six 12X12 scrapbook paper ($0.50 each from Joann's/Hobby Lobby)

How To:
Paint the sides of the styrofoam black
Mod Podge the paper
Slap it on your squares

How to Hang:
This is the easiest part! There isn't a nail hanging thing, so just hammer your nail into the wall, figure out where you want your square and shove it on the nail. If ya miss it by a few inches, take it off the nail and do a reshove! It's that easy!

Sooooo cheap and sooooo easy! Don't look too close, it was my first time and things got a little crooked. But hey, it doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful, right? Other than that, I love the look. Now stay tuned because I did put some "earrings" on the windows.
